Maharashtra state government moved to Supreme Court on Wednesday, demanding inclusion of deemed institutes in the state government’s centralised admissions process for MBBS and BDS admissions for the academic year 2016-2017.
On 1st sept Bombay high court exempted deemed institutes being part of the state government’s centralised admissions process for this academic year.
A notice on the DMER website mentioned three petitions filed by the state in the Supreme Court against a Bombay high court order, which allowed deemed institutes to conduct their own admission process.

Pravin Shingare, director, Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DMER) said “We have approached the Supreme Court to make sure that deemed institutes also admit students under the state government’s centralised admissions process for 2016-17. Supreme Court has accepted our petitions. The next hearing will be on 14th September 2016. We are also fighting a case against private institutes in Bombay high court.

Medica/Dental admission 2016 in Deemed university colleges.

As per the order of the Hon. High court Mumbai, Mumbai bench in Writ petitions No.999512016 & 1001 612016 and bench Aurangabad in Writ petition No. 9108/2016, Deemed University can conduct their own admission process for Medical and Dental seats. The Government of Maharashtra has submitted three Special Petitions No.2655812016, 2657212016 & 2656712016 in supreme court of Indian against the High court order. The said petitions will be heard on 14.09.2016 in Supreme Court of India. During this period the process of admissions, going on or has completed in the Deemed Universities, will be subject to out come and final orders in said Writ Petitions.
