National-Exit-Test-NEXT

Health Ministry is likely to go up for a National Exit Test ‘NEXT’

Key Points –

  • National Exit Test (NEXT) will replace three tests – 1)NEET for postgraduate admissions 2) Recruitment for central health services 3)FMGE i.e foreign medical graduate examination.
  • MBBS student will have to pass the NEXT to get the ‘Dr’ tag

After Central Government decided to adopt NEET for MBBS/BDS admission following by Supreme Court Order in April 2016, now Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is likely to go up for a Common Exit Examination.

The test would not only provide an exit point for MBBS courses, but proposal is going further that Admissions to PG Medical Courses would be on the basis of the merit of Exit Examination. It is also proposed that the test would replace foreign medical graduate examination (FMGE) exam as well as for CHS recruitment. The Bill also proposes for common counselling for UG and PG Medical admission.

As per the draft of the proposed Bill, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is planning to introduce a uniform national exit test (NEXT) to all medical educational institution at the under graduate level. The medical students in the country has to qualify in this examination for enrolment as medical practitioner and also for post graduate admission. They have to secure minimum score as prescribed in the uniform national exit test (NEXT) and NEXT would replace the entrance examination at post graduate level.

  1. This is a correct move. But there must be only one counselling on all India Basis and no private colleges or deemed universities are allowed to conduct the counselling.
Fees for the entire course must be fixed by the central goverment or MCI or any authorised agency by the central goverment.
There must be only one reservation. 50% for all and 50% exclusively for Govt service doctors.
There should not be any caste or religious reservation especially in post graduate level.
There should not be any linguistic or minority status quote as we are Indians and we live in India and we are all equal.Where is the question of majority or minority. We are all equal. Only economically weaker should be given financial assisstance.
Only merit should be the criteria as this profession deals the human life which is a precious one

  2. india need doctor it is gud to take exam at pg level but plz leave reservation
plz plz plz don’t make general candidate cry
i think it is gud to take one level exam for all MBBS students(indian as well as foreign) to practice in field without differentiation or reservation
