Hearing is going on in Supreme Court for Plea Challenging Centre’s ordinance on NEET before Justices Anil Dave, SK Singh, AK Goel.
Final verdict – Supreme Court refuses to interfere in NEET ordinance.
1st Update-Centre informs Supreme Court that 17 states have conducted their own entrance exams for MBBS and BDS courses.
2nd Update- Supreme Court point out it’s objections on states who conducted state entrance exams for MBBS and BDS courses.
3rd Update- Supreme Court condemns the states who conducted exams after court’s order & before d ordinance (between 9 may – 24 may), says it’s against court order.
4th Update – Justice Dave during hearing on plea against NEET ordinance:It shouldn’t have been done after Supreme Court verdict.Why did you (Central Government) do this?
5th Update – Supreme Court refuses to interfere in NEET ordinance saying 50% of states have conducted their exams.

Earlier on 12th July 2016 Supreme Court Judge L. Nageswara Rao avoided himself from hearing a plea that challenged Centre’s ordinance on NEET and hence the plea was pushed to today.

History of Plea Challenging Central Government’s ordinance on NEET
1)Earlier in the month of May a vacation bench of justice PC Pant and justice DY Chandrachud in Supreme Court had refused to stay NEET ordinance and mentioned the case before Chief Justice of India T.S Thakur in July.Vacation bench said that time, Lets us not create further confusion on entrance examination among students and let students appear for test with certain amount of certainty.
2)On 4th July – The plea came up before CJI T.SThakur, and it was disclosed that the matter will be listed before a Bench headed by Justice Dave on 7th July.
3)On 7th July – The day turned out to be a court holiday due to Eid festival, and hence the plea was pushed to next date i.e 12th July.
4)On 12th July – Supreme Court Judge L. Nageswara Rao avoided himself from hearing a plea that challenged Centre’s ordinance on NEET and hence the plea was pushed to today(14th July).
What rules apply next years fr neet
According to supreme court order on 9th May 2016, only NEET will conduct for MBBS and BDS admission.
