HRD Ministry to develop IIT-Pal app to help students

To reduce the influence of coaching institutes in entrance exams HRD Ministry is planing to create an IIT-Pal(IIT professor-assisted learning) app which would contain free as well as high quality study material in 11 languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati,Tamil, Telugu, Odiya , Kannada and Punjabi. The material will be available on the IIT-Pal app as well as on web portal.

Ashok Misra, former Director of IIT Bombay will be the main head of this programme.

HRD Ministr Smriti Irani said IITPAL will be a unique portal where IIT professor’s lectures would be uploaded for all the students include subjects like physics, chemistry and mathematics. Apart from that last 50 years solved question paper of JEE would also be uploaded.

This is a joint effort by the government and IIT officials to help the JEE aspirants who can’t afford expensive coaching institutes tuition fee. It will be based upon Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). HRD Ministry is also considering to setting up a help centre with toll free number, where JEE aspirants get answer for their queries.

It will contain study material of the best quality and cover the syllabus of Physics, Chemistry and Maths in detail. The plan is to invite Second year students of IIT who have already cleared JEE and they know how to crack it. The idea is to utilise the talent and enthusiasm of all those students who have already cleared JEE. IIT students will help in preparing notes on how best to teach the concept to students preparing for JEE.
